We welcome you to our home on the web for the Chicago chapter of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety.

Message from the Chairperson:

Welcome to the Chicago Chapter of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, or Chicago Chapter IAHSS for short. The IAHSS was founded in 1968 by a visionary group of healthcare administrators and is a not-for-profit professional organization of healthcare security and safety executives around the world. Also included in our membership are vendors offering state-of-the-art products and services that serve to enhance security and safety programs. The Chicago Chapter IAHSS was established in 1969. The Chicago Chapter IAHSS works to improve and professionalize security and safety in healthcare facilities in the Chicagoland area. We promote cooperation among our members and provide a forum to discuss the challenges and complexities of protecting our healthcare facilities. Nine past presidents of the IAHSS have come from the Chicago Chapter IAHSS. The International Association's mission statement is €œadvancing excellence in healthcare security and safety worldwide. The Chicago Chapter IAHSS supports the International Association by advancing excellence in healthcare security and safety in the Chicagoland area

  IAHSS Chicago, Illinois Chapter Members:

In December 2012, at the holiday chapter meeting the new IAHSS Chicago and Illinois Board of Directors was elected. The new board members are listed below. We are excited to move the chapter forward this coming year.

First, we want to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of the previous board under the leadership of Lee Mathews. Lee has decided to focus his efforts on training and educational programs. We welcome his continued involvement and contributions to our chapter.

The new board has met several times during the months of January and February. We have been discussing how to best involve/reach out to all of the chapter members, how to provide meaningful programs/topics as well as identify the best methods/venues to use to communicate and meet. We are committed to making the chapter an important and relevant resource. As all good things take time to develop, we decided that it is better not to hold meetings until we can create the 2013 agenda/schedule and roll out our new program. It is taking a little more time than anticipated, but we hope it will be worth it in the end.

To that end, we can share some of the considerations we are reviewing and considering:

· Frequency of meetings; monthly or other.

· Conference call/Webex/GoToMeeting type sessions in addition to face to face meetings.

· Topics/speakers/presentations for each of the meetings

· We are looking for a new venue for our in person meetings; our old standby restaurant has closed.

· Updating our website and keeping it current
